I’ve been a huge fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout’s writing for a while now. And when I started reading the Blood and Ash series last year, I got hooked immediately and I’ve devoured all three books in the series ever since. So when I found out that there would be another book based in the ...KEEP READING »

The Crown of Gilded Bones (Blood and Ash, #3)

After absolutely devouring the first two books in the From Blood and Ash series, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. So I pre-ordered the eBook, and when it arrived on my Kindle I started reading immediately. And don’t you just love this book cover?

In ‘The Crown of Gilded Bones’ the story of Poppy and Casteel continues. The newlyweds have just arrived to Atlantia and their lives got a lot more complicated. Poppy is supposedly the new Queen of Flesh and Fire and there are a lot of people trying to stop her. Many secrets are being revealed and Poppy and Casteel find themselves in hard situations more than ever.

This book continues right where ‘A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire’ ends. I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to remember all the details since I read the second book a few months ago, but I shouldn’t have worried. From the moment I started reading I got pulled right back into this story and it kept me sitting on the edge of my seat.

Like we are used to with Jennifer’s books, this book is packed with sizzling romance and plenty of sexy moments. But above all this book had a lot of action, mystery and some phenomenal world building. There is a lot revealed, but we also get a lot of new possibilities and mystery. There are gods, more strange creatures and some new loveable characters.

Casteel definitely was my favorite character in this book. I loved how protective, mysterious and loving he was towards Poppy. Yes, he is kind of evil and twisted but I loved that about him. And those intimate moments between him and Poppy definitely made me swoon.

‘The Crown of Gilded Bones’ was another amazing read. I didn’t expect this book to not be the last one though. So I was both happy and frustrated when I finished reading. Happy, since I can’t get enough of these two characters, and frustrated because we still don’t know how things will work out for the two of them. Sigh.. Another great book and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Wicked (A Wicked Trilogy, #1)

Wicked (A Wicked Trilogy, #1)

I’ve been wanting to read ‘Wicked’ for a few years now. Somehow I just never got to it. I’ve been loving Jennifer’s books for some time now, and ever since I saw that ‘Wicked’ was being made into a movie, I was determined to start reading this book soon. Well, I finally got to it.

In ‘Wicked’ we meet twenty two year old Ivy. Ivy is kind of a loner ever since she lost her adoptive parents and boyfriend a few years ago. After already having lost her birth parents many years ago, Ivy simple cannot lose any more people. So she does her job of killing Fae at night, and she goes to college during the day. Ivy lost everything to the Fae, so killing them is definitely something she loves. One day  Ivy meets Ren, a very handsome fellow Fae hunter who transferred to New Orleans. And Ren is determined to break through Ivy’s walls and make her his.

‘Wicked’ was from the start at book I really enjoyed. I enjoyed getting to know the two main characters Ivy and Ren. And their chemistry was definitely flying of the pages. I loved how Ren started crumbling those walls Ivy put up right from the start. And who could blame Ivy?! Ren was definitely my favorite character of this book. Charming, funny, handsome, smart, brave and hardworking.. what’s not to love about him?!

Ivy’s little friend Tink was also one of the things I loved most about this book. He was just so damn funny. And I loved how he was a Harry Potter fan, and we got to read some very funny Harry Potter anecdotes.

To be honest, it took me a little while to understand the world that Wicked was set in. Those Fae and the Order.. The fact that I loved the characters and their chemistry so much made me love this book, but the Fae confused me a little. Luckily everything started working for me more and more the further I got in the book and in the end I was hooked.

‘Wicked’ was definitely a fun, romantic and exciting read that makes me want for more. And since the end of this book is kind of a cliffhanger, I really have to read the next book in this trilogy fast.

A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire (Blood and Ash, #2)

In April I read ‘From Blood and Ash’, and boy did that book blow my mind. I loved it so much I read it in a day or so. Which is, in my opinion, kind of impressive with a two year old, and a part time job. But it was so good that is became instantly one of my favorite reads.. up there with Harry Potter and the Twilight series. I bought fan merchandise and this book has been on my mind since then.. So when I got the opportunity to read the second book ‘A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire’ through Social Butterfly PR I immediately requested it and was excited when I received my copy. Obviously I still bought a copy too.. but I could start reading before the official release date. Yessss!!

‘A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire’ begins right where ‘From Blood and Ash’ ended. Poppy has found out the guy she was falling in love with isn’t who he said he was. Not only that.. everything she believed in seems to be a lie. And now, while trying to decide what to do and who to trust.. Poppy finds herself in the middle of a war. Her abilities are changing and her heart might be in danger the most.

I was so excited to start reading this book when it arrived. And now I finished it I’m so sad because it is so freaking good!! OMG!!! This series is just blowing my mind and I love everything about it. From the moment I started I was yet again completely hooked. Poppy and Casteel a.k.a. Hawke are just so fun to read about. There little banters are just so fun! There are lots of action filled moments, there’s fantasy and then there is some mind blowing romance. This is definitely one my favorite series of all time!!

Although us readers are struggling to find out what is the truth and who is lying, right next to Poppy. I couldn’t help myself but hope my feelings about Casteel weren’t wrong. We get a lot of answers throughout this read, and also a lot of new questions come up. We get to meet some new side characters, like Kieran, who I loved and we get to read about a lot of new places.

But above all Poppy and Casteel where my favorite characters. I loved how strong and curious Poppy was. And well Casteel.. Lets just say that I loved him and might have a major book-crush on him. He is just so mysterious, hard and dangerous but also kind and funny at the same time. I simple couldn’t get enough of reading about these two.

‘A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire’ was another great read that makes me ache for more. I seriously had to just sit and think after finishing it. And I can’t wait for the next book and my paperback copy to arrive!

From Blood and Ash (Blood And Ash, #1)

I’ve read several books by Jennifer L. Armentrout over the years. And I loved all of them. But it had been a while since I last read one of her books. So when I read the book description of ‘From Blood and Ash’ I knew this was book I really needed to read. So I ordered the paperback on Amazon, because I really wanted to hold that pretty cover in my hands, and waited impatiently. And finally this beautiful book arrived, and I started reading immediately.

In ‘From Blood and Ash’ we meet Poppy. Poppy is the ‘chosen’ one and lives her life being guarded by soldiers and never being able to go places. She is forced to hide her face, she can’t talk to people outside her guards and maid and she isn’t allowed to talk about her ‘gift’. But this is a hard life for everyone, and especially for Poppy. So when Poppy meets Hawke she is immediately smitten by his handsome looks. And Hawke doesn’t treat her like she’s the chosen one. But the world they know is changing, and it’s hard to know who to trust.

Well.. where to start?! I’d loved Jennifer L. Armentrout’s writing before, but now I absolutely adore it. I mean.. WOW!!! This book completely blew my mind and I couldn’t stop reading. There are 636 pages in this book, and I read it in only two days. And it is two days because I have a little girl to take care of, so I kind read all day.. otherwise I would have easily read this book in one sitting. It was just so good!

The world building in ‘From Blood and Ash’ is awesome. It’s a complete new world, with new ‘creatures’ and new rules. And from the moment I started reading I felt like I was a part of it. And I could easily follow the rules and … of this new world.

And then there are the main characters.. Poppy and Hawke. I loved them so much I can’t stop thinking about these two. First of all Poppy character.. She was such a strong and interesting character forced to this life she really didn’t want. And I was rooting for her from the start. I loved how good and curious she was about life, even though life was so hard for her. And then Hawke.. I don’t think I loved a character as much as I love him. I mean.. we’re talking major crush butterflies love! He was just so mysterious, and fun and he totally stood up for Poppy when no one did.

Besides the romance, this book keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat. There’s a lot of suspense and a lot of moments that made me say ‘Nooooo..’. There are also a lot of things unsolved, a lot of things that keep you wondering, and lots of things that makes you want to visit Mrs. Armentrout and beg her to finish the next book in the series. I can’t wait to read that one!

‘From Blood and Ash’ is definitely a book I recommend! It’s the perfect combination of paranormal romance and suspense and it’s definitely one of my all time favorite reads!
