Secret Nights with a Cowboy (Kittredge Ranch, #1)

After reading the Cold River Ranch series by Caitlin Crews, I knew this was an author I wanted to read more from. So when I was asked to read an ARC of ‘Secret Nights With a Cowboy’, the first book in a new series, I simple couldn’t resist.

In ‘Secret Nights With A Cowboy’ we meet Riley Kittredge and Rae Trujillo. Riley and Rae got married right out of High School, and they got separated not long after. The reason for their separation is something that’s been speculated about in their little town for years. And not even Riley knows the reason. One day Rae just grabbed her bags and left him. Everyone thinks she never came back, but Rae has been coming back day after day for years.. and leaving him again so no one would know. Although this is definitely not the marriage Riley wanted, he will take Rae any way she offers. But one day Rae tells him it’s time to get a divorce, and Riley is determined to finally find out what really made her leave him.

This book left me with mixed feelings. From the moment I started reading I definitely wanted to keep on reading so I could figure out what was going on. Riley and Rae seem to have it all.. Great chemistry, they both haven’t loved anyone else since they met when they where just kids and still there is something that made Rae leave. And she doesn’t talk about it with anyone. Not with Riley, and not with her best friends. So we, as readers, also don’t have the slightest idea why Rae left Riley. And this really irritated me to be honest. Not that I mind a little bit of mystery.. But what could have made Rae leave her husband while he doesn’t have a clue why?!

I enjoyed the fact that this book is a spin off of the Cold River Ranch series. So we already know a little bit about these characters. I remember wondering about Rae’s character, and now I finally got to read her story.

The chemistry between Riley and Rae is also fun to read. But Rae’s whole reason for leaving Riley without him or anyone else knowing why still leaves me feeling confused. I just don’t get it. And although I loved the end of this book, I think I would have enjoyed this book more if could have understood Rae’s reason for leaving a lot earlier. There just seems to be to much anger between these characters. And then in the end they lost their anger way to fast if you ask me.

This book definitely made me curious about the other Kittredge brothers though. And about Rae’s brother the marine. I sure do have a lot more I’d like to read from Caitlin Crews.

The Last Real Cowboy (Cold River Ranch, #3)

The Last Real Cowboy (Cold River Ranch, #3)

‘The Last Real Cowboy’ is the third book in the Cold River Ranch series and I’ve been looking forward to reading this one. Not only because I’m just a big fan of cowboy’s, country life and romance.. but also because this is the story of Brady, the youngest Everett brother. And after reading the first two books about the other brothers, I simple couldn’t wait to read this one too.

In ‘The Last Real Cowboy’ we finally get to read the story of Brady. Brady is the youngest of the Everett brothers, and has always felt like no one really cared what he did. He was the only brother to go to college, and his brother always assumed he went to get away. That’s what there farther made them believe. But Brady always wanted more for the farm and their land but no one ever saw it. But when Brady sets eyes on Amanda Kittredge, his best friends little sister, he is surprises to see how much she grew up. And somehow Amanda seems to be the only one who really sees Brady.

Since I loved the previous two books in this series, I definitely expected to love this book too. But what I didn’t expect was the fact that this book was definitely my favorite of the three. From the moment I started reading I simple loved Brady and Amanda. I loved Brady because he just really was this great misunderstood guy. He really had a lot of hurt inside of him because of his dad, and I loved how Amanda saw that for what it was.

Although Amanda is almost ten years younger than Brady, she had a thing for him for a very long time. But Brady just didn’t see her. She was always just his best friends baby sister. But now he finally seems to see her for more, and Amanda is determined to make him notice her even more. So she asks him a big question. And I loved it. And let me tell you.. Amanda is an awesome character! She is one bad ass woman. Growing up between four brothers she had to be tough, and she sure is.

The romance between Brady and Amanda was very good. I could feel their attraction for one another flying of the pages. And I enjoyed the fact that there where some hot and steamy scenes, but nothing to graphic. The author gave us the opportunity to use a little more of our imagination, and I really enjoyed that.

‘The Last Real Cowboy’ was a great read and I loved every minute of it. This book also made me really curious about Amanda’s four brothers. Hopefully there will be another series about them. Sign me up!!

Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy (Cold River Ranch, #2)

Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy (Cold River Ranch, #2)

In October of last year I read the first book in the Cold River Ranch series ‘A True Cowboy Christmas’. I really enjoyed that book! So when I got the opportunity to read the second book in the series ‘Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy’ I got super excited.

In ‘Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy’ we read the story of the middle Everett brother Ty. Ty Everett got injured during a Bull ride a view months ago. Ever since that accident he has been even more cold hearted and distant than before. But what Ty doesn’t mention to people is the two years of his memory he has been missing since that accident. At first Ty thinks those years aren’t important, but when the gorgeous Rodeo Queen Hannah appears telling him she’s his wife, Ty begins to wonder what happened in those two years. Especially since Ty always told everyone he would never marry.

I’ve always loved a good Cowboy story. And since I’ve been super busy with our new home I was looking forward to a little relaxing reading time. And ‘Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy’ definitely seemed perfect! And boy.. I definitely loved reading this book.

This book starts a view months after Ty’s accident. Ty can’t remember the last two years. And the author wrote this book in a way it felt like we were having the same memory loss as Ty. Hannah is talking about stuff I couldn’t really follow all the time and I truly enjoyed this the most about this book.

The chemistry between Ty and Hannah is fun and intense to read. And I loved getting to know these characters. Ty is this mysterious grumpy cowboy, and I definitely loved him. And what I really enjoyed was reading this book through both Ty and Hannah’s point of view. There aren’t many steamy scenes in this book, but this fitted the story perfectly.Hannah’s character was also pretty damn good to read about. I really felt for her. Especially with Ty forgetting how much he loved her, and her moms harsh words.. my heart definitely broke a view times for her.

The one thing I didn’t really enjoy was the way the memory-loss part went in the end. It just felt a little sudden and to me it didn’t really explain things. But overall this book was definitely fun and I can’t wait to read the third book.
