I’m a full time single dad. A former NFL player turned coach, tasked with turning around a college team full of kids who either don’t take it seriously or are determined to get injured. I will absolutely not be falling for my new neighbor, despite the number of times my meddling brothers try to set us up.
Lark Butler is pure chaos wrapped in gorgeous, infuriating sunshine. She showed up out of nowhere––getting paid to cry at a funeral, no less. Who does that? But somewhere between offering her condolences and crawling out of a literal grave site, we’ve found ourselves tangled in the drama of Outtatowner, Michigan–my coastal hometown with a decades-old feud and two aunties determined to end it.
I’m finally putting down roots so my daughter has a normal life and I need to forget about Lark. Forget the way it felt the night we kissed or what it’s like to finally take something just for me. But when those sparks ignited, it was more intense than either of us bargained for.
Trouble is, I can’t trust her, and she never stays.
She’s burning my carefully laid plans to the ground and all it took was one look.

I read a few books by Lena Hendrix these last few years, and since I loved those books, I was so excited to see the sign up for ‘One Look’. And you can imagine I was even more excited when I received the ARC. And I started reading as soon as possible.

‘One Look’ is the first book in a brand new series. In ‘One Look’ we meet Wyatt. Wyatt is a single father to a beautiful 8 year old girl named Penny. Next to being a father, Wyatt is a former NFL player turned coach. Wyatt has been struggling to find a way to be there for his little girl, have a stable house situation and be successful at his new job. When he visits his old home town, and his family, he meets Lark. Lark is this happy, energetic woman who he can’t get out of his head from the moment they first met.

Lark was only in town for a job assignment, but since there is no one waiting for her at home and feeling like there is more about this small town, Lark decides to stay a bit longer. And the fact that there is this grumpy single dad in town, that she can’t seem to get out of her head also helps make her plans to stay a bit easier. But they both have a lot going on, and their lives are going totally different ways.

‘One Look’ was definitely a fun read that I enjoyed right from the start. The two main characters Wyatt and Lark had some great chemistry. And I loved reading this book through both there point of views. Especially Wyatt’s. I loved how he felt about Lark almost right from the start. He was one swoon worthy character for sure.

There was also plenty of humor in this read, which made it even more fun. I for one had several moments where something happened and I was laughing out loud. Especially this one scene with Wyatt’s daughter Penny, and a chicken. OMG!!

And then there was my favorite thing about this book, the setting in the small town of Outtatowner, Michigan. This setting was just amazing. A Small town, a bit divided because of the two big families: the Sullivans and the Kings. (I can’t wait to read more about that bit of rivalry.) This was a very unique small town where almost everyone had a nickname. Some people where even only known by their nickname. It was hilarious and I can’t wait to read more about this little town.

‘One Look’ was a very romantic, sexy and above all hilarious read I loved from the start. And I can’t wait to read more books in this series.

About Lena Hendrix

Lena Hendrix is the author of steamy, contemporary romance novels. Her love of romance started with her grandmother’s Harlequin paperbacks and now Lena’s stories are full of heart, humor, and plenty of strong Alphas with marshmallow insides-she likes her coffee hot and her heroes hotter! Lena lives in the midwest with her husband, three children, and two derpy Australian Cattle Dogs. When she’s not writing or devouring new novels, you can find her hiking, camping, fishing, and sipping a spicy margarita!

I received this ARC through Grey’s Promotions.
