GoodreadsOne night—a single bullet—cost me everything.
My body, broken beyond repair. The boy I’d thought was my forever. The life I’d always dreamt of.
Now, Holt’s back. And he’s no longer a boy, but a man with shadows in his eyes and demons haunting him.
He says he’s here to make things right. To get back a little bit of all we’ve lost. And he doesn’t show any signs of leaving the small town that has been my refuge.
As stolen moments turn to days, Holt’s around every corner. With his burning stare and lingering touches. Before long, my walls come crashing down and I’m just hoping that taking this second chance isn’t as reckless as it feels.
But not everyone is happy that Holt has returned. As tragedy strikes again, I’m the one left in the crosshairs. And Holt might not be able to save me this time…
Catherine Cowles is one of those authors that I just absolutely adore. Every book I read by her so far has been an emotional romantic roller-coaster and almost all her books have been on my favorite list. So when I first read about this new series, I was already super excited and I counted down the days to when this book would arrive on my kindle.
In ‘Whispers of You’ we meet Wren and Holt. Wren and Holt are young and in love when a tragic event happens. This event changes everything. Not only for Wren and Holt but for the whole town. And the moment Wren really needs Holt, Holt leaves town and doesn’t come back for years.
Now ten years later Holt comes back to town, and when he learns how many people he hurt by leaving all those years ago, he is desperate to make things right. And when he sees Wren again, he realizes she is still the one for him. But how can Wren ever trust Holt again? Especially when someone is trying to hurt people again.
‘Whispers of You’ immediately starts intense. From the very first page I’m hooked and desperate to read more. Holt and Wren have had this amazing bond from a very early age. They are a couple everyone could see coming from a very early age. Not only are they perfect for each other. But they also can sense what the other one is thinking. And I just loved Holt and Wren from the very start. The chemistry and connection between them is just amazing and Catherine Cowles was able to make me feel like I had known these two characters personally.
Next to an amazing, romantic read I loved how we get to meet a lot of fun side characters. Not only Holt and Wren’s characters, but also Holt’s siblings. Boy, I want to read all their stories so much. But not only that, there is some suspense mixed in with the romance that keeps you sitting on the edge of your seat.
‘Whispers of You’ is the perfect start to a new series, and I loved everything about this read. The small town of Cedar Ridge is an amazing setting and the tragedy, unfortunately, sounds like something that could easily happen in a small town these days. I devoured ‘Whispers of You’, and I definitely recommend this one.
