He’s the billionaire Beast of Calico Cove and I’m his sacrificial lamb… I mean, his new employee.
Malcolm Bettencourt is a recluse with a nasty scar across his face and a bad attitude. He has a bone to pick with my family over a loan my dad can't pay back, so in order to save our lobster business, I agreed to live in his house as his housekeeper and cook.
We have nothing in common and there’s no reason to think he would want anything to do with someone like me. Except I can’t stop thinking about him and he can’t stop looking at me.
Author's Note: This beauty and the beast retelling includes a grumpy hero, a sassy heroine looking to lose her v-card and a Pretty Woman moment with a black Am-Ex. Oh and an age gap romance with someone who may or may not be her lobster.

One of my all-time favorite fairy tales is ‘Beauty and the Beast’. So when I first read the book description of ‘Happily Ever Maybe’, I immediately got excited and really wanted to read this one. So when I received an ARC of this book, I was super excited and started reading as soon as possible.

In ‘Happily Ever Maybe’ we meet Jolie and Mal. Jolie has lived in Calico Cove all her life and is working at her father’s lobster business. She has always been the one her father could count on. So when her father gets in trouble Jolie is determined to help him out. Unfortunately this means she has to move in with Mal, a rich loner who has a huge scar on his face. And people don’t only call him the ‘Beast’ because of that, he also is just really unkind and rude. But the longer Jolie and Mal spend time together, they find there is a lot they don’t know about each other.

‘Happily Ever Maybe’ was one of those books I didn’t have the highest expectations for. Don’t get me wrong, I was super excited about this read.. but most times I don’t end up loving retellings. Well, ‘Happily Ever Maybe’ was a book I really enjoyed from start till finish. I seriously loved everything about this one, and I ended up finishing this one in the middle of the night because I just didn’t want to go to sleep.

The two main characters Mal and Jolie are very different. Not only in character, but also everything about their lives is completely different. And I loved that. I made for some very entertaining moments. Especially Jolie’s character was one I loved. She was feisty, funny and not one to back down for a hard situation. I had several moments through out this read I found myself laughing out loud. Mal’s character took a bit longer for me to really love. But in the end he really grew on me.

The setting of Calico Cove, was adorable. I love small-towns, and this one definitely was fun. A bit outdated at times maybe, but very entertaining. I didn’t get that lobster business though. LOL!!

‘Happily Ever Maybe’ was a book I really loved. And it made me very curious to read more books by this author.
