She’s an FBI agent hunting her sister’s killer. He’s an assassin who’ll die to keep her safe. His secret will destroy them both.
Former CIA assassin Alex Parker works for a clandestine government organization hell-bent on taking out serial killers and pedophiles before they enter the justice system. Alex doesn't enjoy killing, but he's damn good at it.
FBI Special Agent Mallory Rooney has spent years hunting the lowlife who abducted her identical twin sister eighteen years ago. Now, during an on-going serial killer investigation, Mallory begins to suspect there's a vigilante operating outside the law.
When Mallory starts asking questions, Alex is ordered to watch her. As soon as they meet, the two begin to fall in love. But the lies and betrayals that define Alex's life threaten to destroy them both—especially when the man who stole her sister all those years ago makes Mallory his next target.

I’ve been wanting to read more Romantic Suspense novels for a while now. But somehow I just didn’t found the time to actually start one. Luckily, I finally found the time to start reading ‘A Cold Dark Place’. This book has been on my TBR for a while now. I’ve been hearing so many amazing things about this series, and I was so excited to finally start reading.

In ‘A Cold Dark Place’ we read the story of FBI agent Mallory Rooney. Mallory has been trying to find answers about her twin-sisters disappearance eighteen years ago. For the first time in years, it seems Mallory is on her way to finding something that has to do with her sisters case. But there is a lot going on. At one of the worst days of the year for Mallory, she meets Alex. And for the first time Mallory also finds herself feeling something more for someone. But Alex Parker is supposed to keep his distance from Mallory. He has so many secrets, one being ordered to keep tabs on Mallory at all times. But there is a connection between Mallory and Alex that they both can’t seem to forget. And when they find a young murdered girl, who looks like Mallory, in her old hometown, things get even more complicated.

After reading a lot of Contemporary Romance novels lately, I absolutely loved reading a book filled with suspense. And ‘A Cold Dark Place’ definitely has a lot of suspenseful moments. From the moment I started reading I was hooked and I was excited to learn more about Mallory, Alex and the disappearance of Mallory’s twin sister Payton. There was a lot going on and I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat.

The suspense in this book was definitely exciting. This book alternated from going from Mallory’s point of view, to that of Alex’s and to the killers point of view. I loved that! And although it might sound of bit confusing, it definitely wasn’t. I also found there was a perfect blend of suspense and romance.

The two main characters Mallory and Alex where very fun to get to know and I enjoyed getting to know them. Both characters where a bit tragic in there own way. Mallory, having to live a life without her twin sister and having the exact same face as the little girl that is still being looked for every year by one of the senators. And Alex, the ex-soldier who survived a Moroccan prison and the death of his mates. I loved these two.

‘A Cold Dark Place’ was a wonderful exciting read that kept me hooked. And above all it made me want to read more books by this author for sure. If you’re looking for a Romantic Suspense novel, this one definitely gets my recommendation.
