GoodreadsThere’s a devil on my shoulder, and every Monday morning she announces herself. She’s this delicious flame in my chest, a flurry of whispered suggestions in my ear. Suggestions I ignore…because every single one of them is about Ben Tate.
Ben—Stealer of Clients, Evicter of Homeless Women, Nemesis. Sitting across from me every damn Monday with his lovely, smug smile and his too-perfect teeth, the living symbol of everything I hate.
It’s been my policy to avoid him, but when a case comes into the firm—one that could change his career and mine—I make an exception. It means weekends and evenings by his side. It means enduring his smirk and his smart mouth and never taking the bait.
Until the night Ben says, “Beg.” And that devil on my shoulder decides to make a few demands of her own.
After loving the first two books in the Devil series by Elizabeth O’Roark, I knew I wanted to read more books by this author. So when I got the opportunity to read book three, ‘The Devil You Know’ I couldn’t resist and signed up as soon as I could.
In ‘The Devil You Know’ we meet Gemma and Ben. Gemma has been working hard to make partner at her law firm. But she has been struggling with the guys in her firm who seem to be stuck with the idea man make for better lawyers. Gemma has been working for years to get where she is at, and she is determined to reach her goal. The one thing standing in her way is another lawyer called Ben. Ben is everything Gemma despises, but he is only the one guy that makes her ‘feel’. And keeping her distance is getting harder and harder.
I’ve been so curious about Gemma and Ben’s story. And from the moment I started reading I was completely hooked and couldn’t put it down. We read this book through Gemma’s point of view. She is a workaholic who is determined to make her male coworkers see how much she deserves to be a partner at the firm. It’s definitely a struggle for her, and I loved reading how she kept going even though things got tough. Sure, she is a bit to harsh and bitter at times, but I could see where she came from.
And then there is Ben. My absolute favorite character in this book. I loved him. The further we get into this book, the more amazing he gets. And the chemistry between Gemma and Ben was amazing to read about. Their banters at work where definitely fun to read, and I enjoyed getting to know them. But the best parts to me where those moments you could just feel how Ben really felt about Gemma. It sure made me swoon.
Next to some great work environment, enemies to lovers vibes we also get enough steamy moments to make for a fantastic read. And I honestly couldn’t put this book down. Although the ending was fitting, and perfect in my opinion, I could have easily have continued reading.
I can’t wait to read more books by Elizabeth O’Roark.

I haven’t read this author before but this does sound like a very well-done workplace romance. Great review!
