Review 'All-American Cowboy' by Dylann Crush
This city boy has it all figured out...
Until he goes toe-to-toe with a fierce cowgirl
who's snagged the home field advantage.

Holiday, Texas is known far and wide as the most celebratory town in the South--and no shindig is complete without one of its founding members. It's a real shame the last remaining Holiday is a city slicker, but what's that old saying about putting lipstick on a pig...?

Beck has no intention of being charmed by some crazy Texas town, but the minute he lays eyes on his grandfather's old honky tonk--and Charlie Walker, the beautiful cowgirl who runs it--he finds himself wishing things could be different. Life's gentler in Holiday. Slower. More real than anything he's ever known. And when he looks into Charlie's eyes, Beck may finally discover what it's like to truly belong.

My Review:

I definitely love a good cowboy story. So when I saw the cover of ‘All-American Cowboy’ on Netgalley, I just had to request this read. And I was super excited to find out I got accepted and I started reading as soon as possible.

‘All-American Cowboy’ is the first book in the Holiday, Texas series and I must admit I had some high expectations for this one. Having to take it easy due to my pregnancy, makes me able to read a little more than I did the previous weeks so I was really looking forward to a great romance story to take my mind of things.

The main character Charlie Walker is a tough as nails woman who has been working hard for eight years to make the old Honky Tonk the Rose a success. When the owner dies, Charlie is forced to play nice with his grandson Beck to make sure the Rose will survive. But Beck definitely isn’t from Texas, and he isn’t used to living outside his fancy Manhattan life.

This book has all the things a great read should have. Cowboys, Romance, a strong female character and a small town. But I just didn’t really like this book. I didn’t hate it either, but I just didn’t love the characters. Somehow I really did not feel the romance between Charlie and Beck. One thing I didn’t like for example.. Charlie didn’t want to admit here feelings for Beck, so she stayed away and was pretty unkind to Beck. And when I turned the page she started kissing him and said she wanted to have ‘fun’. This just didn’t really felt right to me.

There where some pretty funny moments throughout this read. Which made me want to keep on reading. Especially those moments with a huge pig. Yep.. a pig. I loved that.

What I did enjoy about this read was the little town of Holiday. I love small towns and this town really had his charms.

About the Author:

Dylann Crush writes contemporary romance with sizzle and sass. A romantic at heart, she loves her heroines spunky and her heroes super sexy. When she’s not dreaming up steamy storylines, she can be found sipping a margarita and searching for the best Tex-Mex food in Minnesota. Although she grew up in Texas, she currently lives in a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul with her unflappable husband, three energetic kids, a clumsy Great Dane, a rescue mutt and a very chill cat. She loves to connect with readers, other authors and fans of tequila.
