The Sunday Post #76: Snow Days

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ Its a chance to share news ~ A Post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

This week was our first week back to work after our vacation. And it started out very interesting. From Sunday till Monday there was a lot of snowfall here. A lot I say? Yes, well a lot for the Netherlands. And when there is more than 20 cm of snow, we all go a little crazy here. Why you ask? Well.. people tend to drive very slow, so there are a lot of traffic jams. Trains aren’t going as planned, and it feels like the whole country has gone a little mad. LOL!
My husband and I still had some snow fun!!

On Monday I had to go work, and since I couldn’t take our car I went with the train. Instead of the normal 40 minutes in the morning, it now took me two hours to get to work since a lot of trains weren’t going anymore. Obviously I was really late at work. And in the afternoon it was advised to stay at home. Hmm.. I left work and went home as soon as I could, I thankfully was able to get on one of the last busses and later a train. (Yes, even the trains and busses weren’t going anymore). But when I was nearly home, some confused person was walking on the rails so the train couldn’t continue anymore. So.. long story short.. it took me 2,5 hours to get home, and I only live 30 kilometers (that’s almost 19 miles) away from work. Frustrating really.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I was free from work. One of my coworkers came over for coffee, which was really fun. And I went to do some Christmas shopping.

The rest of the week, and this weekend I have to work again. Unfortunately I’m not feeling all to well at the moment. Not really sure what the problem is really. I’m having these moments when I feel really weak and shaky. I get really hot and after I sit for a little while it’s over. Pretty damn frustrating if you’re a nurse. Hopefully it gets better soon.

Books & Blogging:

I’ve been reading and blogging as much as I could this week. I’m trying to get some posts ready for the upcoming weeks so I don’t have to do as much at Christmas. So far so good.

I shared a new post this week called ‘Maureen’s Little Corner of the World’, where I talk about everything really. I hope to do this post at least twice a month.

I bought myself a little gift on ‘A Blind Date With A Book’. I love this idea so much!

And finally, I did some work on Maureen’s Books Promotions for the next year. And I’m really excited about it.

I’m still looking for fellow book bloggers who would like to join this below Book Promo in January! So.. if you’re interested or know someone who might be interested.. please let me know.

  4. It's good to have snow when you don't have it too often :) once a year would be enough for me, I get tired of it xD
As for the way you're feeling... I had something similar. And it all ended in some sort of stomach virus. It might be the same... I stopped drinking coffee so I would stop shaking and being all jumpy and weak. So stay hydrated and maybe get some vitamin C for your immune system :) and some rest, if you can... hope you have a good week.

    1. I went to Switzerland a lot when I was growing up. They have lots of snow too. So seeing how people here react is kind of frustrating! LOL!

  10. Your snow photos are great!! I wish I could be told to stay home. I live almost an hour away from my job (and triple that on the weekends). It would be nice! I hope you start feeling better.

    1. Me too. Staying home would be a lot easier. Well.. I don't think that happens a lot for us teachers and nurses. ;)
