Review 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' by J.K. Rowling

Years ago I read Harry Potter for the first time. I never reviewed the books though. And that's definitely not right if you've been an Book Blogger for over three years. So it's time to finally re-read and review my favorite books.
Ever since Harry Potter had come home for the summer, the Dursleys had been so mean and hideous that all Harry wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he's packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature who says that if Harry returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.

And strike it does. For in Harry's second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor and a spirit who haunts the girls' bathroom. But then the real trouble begins -- someone is turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects...Harry Potter himself!

My Review:

I remember reading ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ for the first time years ago. I was so excited that there was a next book about Harry Potter and I just devoured the pages of this new story. And even after reading this book several times I can’t get enough of this story.

What I really loved about this second book in the Harry Potter series, was the introduction of Dobby the house elf. I just love Dobby. Not only is Dobby adorable, he is very courage’s and funny. Yes, his actions to help Harry weren’t very helpful but it was a nice effort and it made for a very nice read. And off course we now know Dobby will have a big part in the next books.

In this book we also meet the very strange and arrogant professor Gilderoy Lockhart. That man was infuriating. Even more so in this book than in the movie. Listening to how awesome he found himself.. Wow.. J.K. Rowling definitely is able to write characters that are make you feel all kinds of emotions. I did enjoy how all the females reacted to that professor, it was really funny.

The whole ‘Chamber of Secrets’ idea made me love J.K. Rowling even more. I love how mysterious that chamber was and how all these things came clear after reading this second book. How Hagrid became the Hogwarts gamekeeper! How Dumbledore knew about Tom Riddle being Lord Voldemort.
I also loved the idea of a self-writing diary. Wouldn’t that be great?

‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ definitely was another great book that made and still makes me excited to read more in this series.

About the Author:

Although she writes under the pen name J.K. Rowling, pronounced like rolling, her name when her first Harry Potter book was published was simply Joanne Rowling. Anticipating that the target audience of young boys might not want to read a book written by a woman, her publishers demanded that she use two initials, rather than her full name. As she had no middle name, she chose K as the second initial of her pen name, from her paternal grandmother Kathleen Ada Bulgen Rowling. She calls herself Jo and has said, "No one ever called me 'Joanne' when I was young, unless they were angry." Following her marriage, she has sometimes used the name Joanne Murray when conducting personal business. During the Leveson Inquiry she gave evidence under the name of Joanne Kathleen Rowling. In a 2012 interview, Rowling noted that she no longer cared that people pronounced her name incorrectly.
