Discussion: Book Buying Habits

As a fanatic reader and book blogger I loved reading book discussion. And since I also love having my own book blog I decided to post a book discussion myself. So join me on my little book discussion journey and lets have some fun!

As an book blogger and reading addict I own a lot of books. I used to get a lot of books growing up for my birthday and on Christmas. And I would save up money to buy a new book while I had still plenty of new books to read. I think this is something a lot of my fellow book bloggers and reading addicts can relate too.

Growing up, not much changed. I wasn’t the partying kind of girl, so my money was spend on books. While I was in college studying to become a nurse, I didn’t have a lot of free time to read, but I still managed to buy books.

When I was seventeen and met my boyfriend/fiancĂ© (still sounds funny LOL) he was the one with a full time job and he paid for most dates. I tried to pay a view times, but he didn’t want me too most times so I still could by some books.

Now I’m a grown up, I work full-time, I have a house, an almost-husband and a cat. Money is spend on the mortgage, groceries and all those additional costs you have to deal with as a grown up. Still.. I like to save up some money each money to buy a view books I really want to have. As a book blogger I’m lucky enough to get a lot of books for free in exchange for a review but I’m just not able to go weeks without buying at least one new book.

I have been thinking about my book buying habits. Not only because we have a wedding coming up that will cost a lot of money, but also because one day soon I won’t be able to store more books inside this house. (No worries, I’ll probably keep on trying!!) Although I love buying books, I try to only buy two or three new books ones a month. Sometimes it works perfectly, and sometimes I fail miserable. When I’m really busy with work and don’t have a lot of free time, I’m able to stay away from bookstores and websites as Amazon. But when I have some days off.. well.. let’s say I shouldn’t be allowed to get near a bookstore or computer.

Do you have any book buying habits?

Have you set rules for yourself regarding buying new books?

  1. For a long time I bought books whenever and spent WAY too much. Now I've cut way back and buy more e- books (which are sometimes cheaper) but sometimes I just want that book for my shelf. It's a problem. :) And it's even worse now because as a blogger I see more books, sometimes in genres I otherwise wouldn't have read, so now I want MORE books lol .What can you do? A good problem to have though maybe?

    Great post!

    1. Definitely a good problem, but sometimes it's very hard to explain to others. LOL! I'm glad to have fellow book blogger around who get it! ;)
I don't think I'll ever stop buying books. Every day I find a new one I would love :D

      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Oh I know what you mean! The problem is doubled as I am also married to a reader who puts my reading efforts in the shade and loves going on reading binges when he cannot get enough of a single author... We try very hard to resort to our Kindle, but still spend too much on books and have a house crammed to the rafters!

    1. Ow.. Haha!! I can't even imagine how that's like. A husband who also loves books, and reads even more as you? I can imagine your house is packed. You must have your very own library! Awesome! ;)
EBooks are definitely a great way to save some money. And although I really love them.. I still think real books are the best and I can't resist buying them! :D

      Thanks for stopping by!
