Wednesday's Favorites: Miss Mabel's School For Girls by Katie Cross

Welcome to Maureen's Books Wednesday's Favorites. In the Wednesday's Favorites post I will talk about a book I loved and that I think deserves a little more attention. I read popular books, but also many books that aren’t so popular (yet). In this post all sorts of books from all sorts of genre’s will have a chance to shine. Today’s Wednesday's Favorites is ‘Miss Mabel's School For Girls’ by Katie Cross, a book I read in July 2015.

The Book:
Never Underestimate the Power of a Determined Witch.

Letum Wood is a forest of fog and deadfall, home to the quietly famous Miss Mabel’s School for Girls, a place where young witches learn the art of magic.

Sixteen-year-old Bianca Monroe has inherited a deadly curse. Determined to break free before it kills her, she enrolls in the respected school to confront the cunning witch who cast the curse: Miss Mabel.  Bianca finds herself faced with dark magic she didn’t expect, with lessons more dangerous than she could have ever imagined. Will Bianca have the courage to save herself from the curse, or will Miss Mabel’s sinister plan be too powerful?

Miss Mabel’s School for Girls is the first novel in The Network Series, an exciting new fantasy collection. A gripping tale about the struggle to survive, it will take you to a new place and time, one you’ll never want to leave.

Praise for 'Miss Babel's School For Girls':

It’s a page-turner that will tempt you to read it all in one sitting, staying up past your bedtime or whatever it takes. The characters are engaging, and the plot clips along with enough unexpected twists to keep you guessing.

With short chapters, and uncomplicated prose, this is the perfect YA fantasy, but as with all YA novels, there’s something there for older readers to enjoy as well.

I’m so happy I read this novel. I was expecting something above entertaining, but if I am to be honest, I was sucked right in. I loved the completely unbalanced and egotistical head of the school. I loved some of the twists.

This was definitely a very nice read for me. I enjoyed everything about it. The book immediately starts interesting, and it stays that way until the very end. Although I was scared this book would only be for younger people , due to the title, this book can definitely be read by any age.

About the Author:

Katie Cross grew up in the mountains of Idaho, where she still loves to play when she gets the chance. If she’s not writing, you can find her traveling, working as a pediatric nurse, trail running with her husband and two dogs, or curled up with a book and a cup of chai.
