Review 'Secret Sisters' by Jayne Ann Krentz
The new novel from New York Times bestselling author Jayne Ann Krentz. Fans of Nora Roberts will love this unforgettable story of two best friends and the secrets that lie between them . . .

Madeline and Daphne were once as close as sisters - until a secret tore them apart. Now it might take them to their graves.

Madeline has returned to Washington after her grandmother's mysterious death. And at her family's old, abandoned hotel - a place she never wanted to see again - a dying man's last words convey a warning: the secrets she and Daphne believed buried forever have been discovered.

Now, after almost two decades, Madeline and Daphne will be reunited in friendship and in fear. Unable to trust the local police, Madeline summons Jack Rayner, the hotel chain's new security expert. Despite the secrets and mysteries that surround him, Jack is the only one she trusts . . . and wants.

Jack is no good at relationships but he does possess a specific skill set that includes an intimate understanding of warped and dangerous minds. With the assistance of Jack's brother, Abe, a high-tech magician, the four of them will form an uneasy alliance against a killer who will stop at nothing to hide the truth . . .

The New York Times bestselling author of 'Trust No One' and 'River Road' delivers a novel that twists and turns into a read that will leave you breathless.

My Review:

I have read several books by Jayne Ann Krentz written under her pseudonyms Jayne Castle and Amanda Quick. And I really loved these books. So when I received ‘Secret Sisters’ I was super excited to start reading. Especially since I love mystery and suspense books, and this book sounded like a great suspense novel.

In ‘Secret Sisters’ we meet Madeline Chase. Madeline has had a dark secret for more than 18 years. She never spoke about it and she always made sure to keep other people at a distance. Madeline also hasn’t spoken to her best friend, Daphne since that night all those years ago. Bu when Madeline’s  grandmother suddenly dies, Madeline is forced to go back to the island she left so suddenly all those years ago.
When Madeline arrives on the island, it becomes clear that there are even more secrets on the island than she’d known and soon she is in danger yet again. Madeline calls in the help of Jack Rayner, a security expert that works for her hotel. Together with Jack, Madeline is determined to finally get clear what happened all those years ago. But that also means to get back in contact with Daphne.

This book was definitely a very good, interesting and intriguing read. From the very beginning I was hooked to the pages and I found myself getting more curious to the outcome of this book with every passing page. There are a lot of secrets and I felt myself trying to figure out what was going on together with the characters. The mystery really was that good and I also really enjoyed getting to know the characters and the history of the island.

The main characters Madeline and Jack, were so much fun to read about. Not only is there a lot of mystery going on, but there was also romance.. And I really loved the romance between Madeline and Jack. It was so honest and pure, and I was rooting for them the whole time. They both had a lot of issues, but it became clear that they were going to figure things out together.
The friendship between Madeline and Daphne was also really fun to read. I loved the connection between these two ‘secret sisters’.

The best part about this book was that in the end, every question had been answered. There were so many questions and I really was afraid that I wouldn’t get all the answers, because that often happens in suspense novels. But thankfully this book answered all my questions and it was so much fun to read.
I definitely recommend this book. It’s a great romantic suspense!

  1. I am only recently starting to read romantic suspense and mystery books, but so far I love both genres. This one sounds interesting and mysterious with all the secrets and it must've been fun learning the truth behind them. The romance sounds well done too. I love the sound of how all the questions get answered by the end, I've had a few mystery books where that doesn't happen and it always feels a bit disapointing. Great review!

    1. This really was a great read. I definitely think you would like it! It had a bit of everything. And I totally agree with you.. When there are still a lot of questions left at the end of a book I feel disappointed. But 'Secret Sisters' definitely leaves you feeling good ;)

  2. Yes! I love your review, and loved this one too..this is one of my favorite authors and I read books under all of her names.

    1. Thank you Kimberly. Jayne Ann Krentz definitely is a great author. She can just write every genre!! Amazing.

  3. Aw yay! I love her books too. She really is great about wrapping up all the questions and loose ends. I enjoy that about her books. Glad to see you enjoyed the leap into this pen name of hers. I just love her Quick ones too :D
